Welcome to NYSERDA's Focus on Commercial Real Estate Benchmarking Toolkit, a free, customized,
user-friendly Web-based tool that enables commercial building owners and managers to rate
their buildings' energy efficiency and carbon footprint relative to peer office buildings
in New York City, the State, and across the nation.
Why was the Focus CRE Toolkit created?
The Focus CRE Toolkit was created as part of NYSERDA’s effort to meet the challenges of creating a

Conceived in partnership with the real estate industry, and developed by the New York State Energy Research and Development
Authority (NYSERDA), the Focus CRE Toolkit helps owners to prioritize buildings
in their portfolio for additional investigation and investment in energy efficiency.
In partnership with the U.S. EPA, NYSERDA includes the ENERGY STAR score in the Focus CRE Scorecard.
The Focus CRE Toolkit also provides regional-based comparison of source energy consumption
and carbon emissions for buildings located in New York City using source conversion factors and carbon emissions factors
as reported in the April 2007 Inventory of NYC Greenhouse Gas Emissions
